What Can make Our Candles Different

Let's look at the characteristics of our candles. Our candles are ethically produced in small batches using environmentally friendly materials and packaging. Our candles are vegan and cruelty-free, and made without the use of parabens, phthalates, petroleum, or carcinogenic components. We also use 100% soy wax which is sourced from sustainable plants from the USA. What exactly is soy wax and why is it important?

Soy wax is derived from soybeans (shocking, right?). They do this by taking cleaned, cracked, dehulled soybeans and then rolling them into flake. The oil is removed and then hydrogenated. In addition, the leftover flakes can be used for animal feed! The process alters the melting temperature so that it is stable at room temperature and ideal for candles. If being natural, renewable and biodegradable as well as vegan were not enough, soy wax typically has the longest burn time and is free of indoor air pollution.

What do you think of other waxes? Well, there are three other waxes commonly used in candles. These include paraffin wax, beeswax, as well as coconut wax. Let's discuss them. Paraffin is, perhaps the most popular wax for candles especially fragranced candles, as it is a wonderful scent throw. What is the reason why increasing numbers of companies switching to other waxes? It's because it's not renewable! Paraffin wax originates from coal, petroleum, or oil, and is a carcinogen! We are concerned about the environment, and our customer's health, we are here Brand & Iron, so renewable, sustainable and ethically sourced products are a must.

Beeswax is an extremely popular organically sourced wax that performs very well for candles generally. Be aware that beeswax comes with a strong natural scent, that doesn't blend well in conjunction with scents. But more importantly, beeswax is produced from bees (obviously) and, as a vegan candle company, that makes it entirely impossible to make.

The final thing to consider the final ingredient is that coconut is a wax. Aside from the hefty cost, it's difficult to find truly authentic coconut oil. This is mostly due to the softness of coconut wax. Because it has such a low melting point, most coconut waxes are a blend with one or more of the mentioned waxes. This is not a problem, however, due to insufficient transparency from manufacturers and the tricky language that they employ, it's almost impossible to know what the wax is mixed with, let alone if they are mixed in the first place. We want to guarantee the purity and vancouver candle co renewable, vegan, and ethical candle, therefore we have chosen to make use of soy wax.

We don't stop there. We use soy wax to create a safe and renewable candle. We use a lead and zinc-free cotton candle wick which is non-toxic and simple to use and requires less maintenance than the wooden wick. What else is it that makes our candles unique? We take our values right down to our packaging. This is why all of our packaging peanuts can be biodegradable; in fact, all of our packing is recyclable. We also love encouraging clients to use or recycle empty candle vessels. We'll discuss some of our top ways to do that next month, so make sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter in order to keep up-to-date.
